Avant Garde's mission is to engage a younger audience in the Museums of New Meixco in a fun and educational way. Avant Garde also promotes young and emerging artists in New Mexico and beyond. Membership in Avant Garde is free to museum members.

In February, Avant Garde will host the Reporter's popular pre-Valentine's Day party at the Museum of International Folk Art.

It's Pushpin Show attracts more than 100 young artists each year.   Anything can be hung -- as long as it includes pushpins in its composition for this free-form, juried show.  For more information, www.pushpinshow.com.

Late Fall, emerging Native American artists take the stage for a panel discussion in Avant Garde's annual Native Underground. Learn how young NU artists are breaking with traditional stereotypes of art and culture. The panel is followed by a party and chance to talk one-on-one with the artists.
